Ayam Goreng with Sambal Ijo

Cooking Tools & Ingredients

  • NutriBullet
  • Thermomix
  • Pot, pan and cooking utensils
  • 2 pc whole cut chicken
  • 2 sdm sugar 
  • 2 tsp salt 
  • 2 tsp pepper 
  • 3 tbsp cornflour 
  • Oil for frying 

Make blended spices;

  • 6 pc Garlic 
  • 2 pc Shallot 
  • 25 gr Galangal
  • 15gr Ginger
  • 4cm Tumeric
  • 3 pc Lemongrass
  • 2 tbsp Corriander seeds 
  • 80ml Water

Sambal Ijo (Green Chili Sambal) 

  • 7 pcs green chilli 
  • 5 pcs small hot chilli (optional) 
  • 100 gr garlic 
  • 100gr Shallot 
  • 5 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt 
  • 1 tsp Sugar 


Step by Step 

  1. Make paste of the spices, mix with the cut chicken and let it marinate for minimum 30 minutes. 
  2. Heat up the oil for frying.
  3. Add sugar, salt, pepper and the cornstarch to the marinated chicken.
  4. Fry the chicken with medium heat to ensure its cooked without being burnt ( approximately 10-15 mins depending on how big is the chicken). 
  5. Prepare your sambal . Firstly boil the chilli for 6 minutes. Add shallot and garlic in the last 2 minutes. 
  6. Put it in chopper. Make sure not to chop it too fine.
  7. Heat up oil in frypan, add the sambal paste, cook it approximately 5mins until the oil come out.
  8. Your fried chicken and sambal is ready! Pro tip : enjoy it with hot rice and also cold cut cucumber.
